My current reads are always kept beside my pillow and since the day I started reading this book, I realised that my hands are always itching to get the book and start reading it again, despite the fact that my exams are approaching and I need to study. Yes, this book is so engrossing!

The book is about a simple yet insightful spiritual journey of 600 odd kilometers called  "Operation Free Bird" that a young guru leads in order to help his followers evolve into a higher self.

Swami Partibhan becomes a guru by chance when he is forced to succeed his father. A believer of 'practical spirituality', he sees that most of the followers in his ashram do nothing about attaining spirituality but rather it seems that they have come for a vacation. In order to test them and also his idealism of 'practical spirituality' , he leads his followers to a journey on foot, only allowing them to carry few simple clothes and medicines, and making them beg alms in return for their services. Do his followers evolve? Does Swami Partibhan's teachings bring any successful change in his followers?

The book is divided into 4 parts. Part one is narrated by one of Swami Partibhan's followers. Part two is narrated by another follower who has been hired by an agency to prove that the Swami is a charlatan. Part three of this book is narrated by Swami Partibhan himself, about how he becomes a spiritual leader; and part four deals with the unpredictable events after Swami Partibhan's journey.

The book is written by father-son duo Ravi Sharma and Kartik Sharma who absolutely made the purpose of the book on point. Written in a lucid language, this book has a tinge of suspense. I love how Swami Partibhan gives his discourses at perfect situations and with examples related to practical life.

I absolutely fell in love with this book, and if you are looking for a change from the ubiquitous crime thriller or fantasy genres then you need to read this book!

Note: I would like to thank the authors for giving me a review copy of this book in exchange of an honest review.

  1. I would strongly recommend to buy this book, it gives some important life lessons and the an idea about a the life of a spiritual soul.

  2. The book teaches us to follow our heart and not to fear our future. It is motivational story .people should go through this book who are facing hard time following there goals in life.

  3. The day this book came upon me, i really did not imagine it to be anything special. I have never really been into the genre of spiritual or self development. Although i am not sure if this book felt like just another spiritual writer's work... It is something more.
The storyline, at the pace of a teacher, takes you through the journey of a spiritual leader and his followers, in the modern times of materialism when communication with one's soul is rare.
With every event in the storyline what is brought up in the readers mind are questions, questions whose answers shall shed light upon what is the true meaning of devotion and love.
What is very special about this work, is that it takes the reader, WITHOUT HIS OWN KNOWLEDGE, on not just one, but multiple journeys simultaneously. The storyline being the first, followed by the conscious questions, the sub conscious doubts and finally the assuring answers.
Self exploration is what truly defines this novel best to me.
The authors, with an exceptional taste of words, have completely changed my opinion , imagination, understanding and visualisation of nature's designs.

I strongly recommend it, especially to the readers like me, who have never before nurtured a intrest in the genre.
