On one crisp morning, newspaper delivery boy Kannan and his milkman friend Vasu goes in a residential locality in Avadi to deliver their respective services. When Kannan goes to Philip's house to deliver the newspaper, he gets no response even after calling out Philip's name. He then notices that the door is slightly ajar. When Kannan goes inside to check on Philip, he comes out running and screaming.
Being the only one to report Philip's murder to the police and having not one single person as alibi, Kannan is charged with Philip's murder. Now only Inspector Naren can solve the case and help Kannan.
This is one of my favourite Detective short story so far. The book will take hardly 1 hour to read it. The story has been narrated in a simple and lucid language by the author. I loved how the story built up, where it starts with the murder scene and then it brings in the main character of the story, Inspector Naren. Being a short story, there are no background sketch to the different characters, but then bringing the back story of the characters would lengthen the book so I guess the author did right in not writing about the backgrounds.
The story is gripping at the right places and it is perfect to read in a place where you don't want to be in (like me when I read this story) or if you are bored and don't want to waste one precious hour. So download it's kindle version right away and enjoy it with a glass of iced chocolate milkshake (or any drink of your preferred choice).
Arun K has lived most of his life in Chennai. He is a movie buff, avid traveler, and reader. He likes to read crime novels and management books. He has worked on scripts for short films before deciding to author a crime novel.
