Participating in the BookChor Read-a-thon
Recently E-commerce website Bookchor.com held a read-a-thon (or readathon) on their Instagram page and Facebook page from 9th May to 23rd May 2018. The rules were simple and the participants had to choose any three books from the following 11 themes:
I was excited to participate in the readathon. In a flurry I went through by bookshelf to find out the 3 books that I would read during these 15 days. I chose the following books:
A book with more than 500 pages - All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
A book with great opening line - Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone by J. K. Rowling
A book from Chick-Lit genre - The Book of Tomorrow by Cecelia Ahern
The first book I read was The Book of Tomorrow and I was able to finish it within 2 days. Next I picked up All The Light We Cannot See. This took me 5 to 6 days to complete because of its thickness and the small font size. Nevertheless the book is one of my favourites so far and I remember I finished off the last 100 pages at 4:15 AM in the morning. Next I read a review copy after which I read Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. This also took me almost 5 days to complete since I had to travel a bit in between. I chose to read this last because currently I am doing a Harry Potter readathon by myself (I just finished reading Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets).
This was my first ever readathon and I hope to participate in more readathons. In fact, this is a great way to read all those books in your huge To-Be-Read pile. 😉
