Fifty awesome women. Fifty awe-inspiring stories. One defining moment. Scientists, artists, entrepreneurs, scholars, athletes and queens. Trace the journeys of these Indian women and their extraordinary lives.

This book literally reminds me of the bed-time stories my mom used to tell. This book has fifty inspiring stories of fifty inspiring women in India. I had my eyes on this book ever since I heard this was releasing. With beautiful illustrations on glossy pages and a crisp yet detailed life story of these women - this book is a whole package. I held on to the book until I completely finished reading it - such powerful is the author's storytelling.

What made this book more splendid that it even has the stories of the lesser known women. I didn't know we had a first female fire fighter in India, or the first handicapped woman to climb Mount Everest. In a way this book was an eye-opener for me. These uplifting stories are so well compiled by the author, with quotes one one side. I read this book in a day but I'm going to pick it up time and again whenever I'll feel low.

From Kalpana Chawla to Priyanka Chopra, the author has covered the hardworking and impressive (and unfortunate in some cases) stories of women from all areas of work sending us a message - if they can do then why can't we.

I don't care if it has been categorized as a children's book. I feel this is one such book that can be enjoyed by all, irrespective of gender and age. Pick up this book the next time you see it in a book store and gift it to yourself or your loved ones.
