In Life Unknown – A Passage through India, the author returns to his motherland, India, and sets out to face the depths of his being as he continues the adventure begun in his previous bestselling book, Dream Beyond Shadows.
His heartfelt desire to find a way to live beyond the shadows of existence takes him to Ladakh, Dharamsala, and remote regions of India’s far north, deep within the powerful energy of the Himalayan Mountains. It takes him to the sacred waters of the Ganges River, and ultimately on a 1000 km pilgrimage by foot across South India, following the echoes of a cryptic message.
This story speaks directly from the author’s heart to an audience considering the idea of leaving everything they know behind to embrace life in its raw and untamed magnitude and search for understanding and meaning.
Kartikeya Ladha's Life Unknown takes you on a philosophical, spiritual, and adventurous journey across the three most magical places in India. Divided into three parts, that are each dedicated to a new leg of the author's journey, this book will give you an unique and eventful account of travelling across India.
While travelling and working abroad, the author found his calling (the author's first book is dedicated to his foreign travels) to his homeland. After coming back he spends a good amount of three month's time in Leh-Ladakh. Not only does he talk about his stay and travels, he decides to tell us about every little thing associated with the place - from the local rituals to the Israeli connection to Ladadk. For this reason, Life Unknown is nothing less than a travel documentary.
In the second part, the author comes back to his hometown - Delhi, and talks about his family dynamics. Along with a travel-documentary, Kartikeya Ladha also gives us a glimpse of his personal life, making this book a delightful tale of a young man's pursuit for happiness. Ladha shares his worries about his travel funding, and this makes the book even more real.
In the final leg of the book, Ladha travels extensively across South India for three months. His story is a pedestal for his love for travelling. His book is research-worthy and inspiring. The book is an intricate mix of travelogue, spirituality and philosophy. I loved how he uses bits and pieces of his ideals in between his travel tidbits.
Interspersed with the author's travel photos (albeit in monochrome), Life Unknown is a must read for every travel enthusiast.
A social media influencer with a community of thousands across the globe on Instagram, Kartikeya Ladha first gained international recognition after the launch of his book, Dream Beyond Shadows. Kartikeya used to live in the U.S. before quitting his job and letting go of his plans to build a life in America. Since then, he has been on a quest to discover our existence’s absolute truth, which has inspired travels to distant lands. His artistic imagination springs from his desire to create works that exemplify the rawness of “what it means to be a human being.”
I received a copy of the book in exchange of an honest and unbiased review.
